The Preview & The Effect Shader Glitch

Well,

it's been a bloody strange week. We've gotten a lot done; major bugs ironed out, major revisions over-writing the current build, suggestions, feedback, new effects, things removed, you name it, it's happened.

One of the 2 major bugs persistent with the mod, we've managed to find the answer to. Some people won't like it, but after extensive research, it's an unavoidable New Vegas glitch.
The glitch occurs during Refuelling and Repairing the TARDIS when Anti-Aliasing is active. So, after some deliberation and seat-wetting over the effect shader, we've decided to retain and just advise this; - Disable Anti-Aliasing to see the beauty of the below Repair effect

Apparently some Add-on's can cure this, but as of which, we're not sure. It's a pain, granted, but for sexy effects like above, it's worth it's wait in pure golden Artron Energy.

Now, onto our second exciting piece of news;

We've had our first Public Preview!

Nick Wheeler has kindly previewed the mod and posted an article on it over at the Reticule. If you're unfamiliar with the Reticule or Nick's journalistic work, it's a site dedicated to gaming; reviews, previews, spotlights etc across all formats and is all round a bloomin' good read.

So head on over and bookmark it now to stay in the loop with all things gamey (check out the recent April Fools articles... they had me chuckling)

So, with the major bugs ironed out and teeny, tiny adjustments made, the TARDIS is just around the corner.

No release date, just watch this space.

Personally kris I don't mind that effect heck I probably won't see it, last time I played new vegas on pc I had to put the graphics down a fair bit but since then I've had a major system upgrade... But hey I've installed new vegas with all its dlc and trinkets just for this mod with the save from the 360 version I started playing last week from scratch again ready and converted for use with this... Keep at it guys and it will be brilliant

ahh I appear to have mis-read this, do you mean with anti aliasing the glitch occurs or without it?

spyduck (for real this time) said...

To be fair, there are FXAA injectors and so on to enable anti-aliasing without the shader breaking. I've not tried disabling it in the game's config but forcing it in my graphics card settings, yet, though. Hopefully that will work!

Well cant say for anyone else but i'm turning anti-aliasing off, and that effect is really nice.

The glitch occurs with anti-aliasing on Oliver

This will all be detailed both within the mod itself via a 'quick-ref' menu and within the 1.01 readme

Hmm. I've seen what AA looks like in-game, and frankly, 4x AA makes my game run much more smoothly. With it off, there's enough jagginess that it's harder to suspend disbelief.

So, the first trick will be to see if it's even a problem on my system. And if it is, if there's a workaround somewhere for it.

Hmm. Tried the ENB solution, and it just isn't for me. The various palettes left me feeling like I was playing in a comic book. It just flattens too much. If there was a way to just take advantage of the FXAA coding and keep the default palette, that might work, but that's not what that mod is for.

That effect was "absolutely fantastic!". Hopefully my computer can play it without problems, otherwise I will turn that off because that effect is amazing. Also, awesome review, my thanks to the writer! Hopefully we will see release very soon... :-)

Cool, good thing I play without Anti Aliasing anyways because of the ENB shader preset I'm using :P

I love playing games without Anti-aliasing in general anyways, it gives me the feel of playing old 2000-2004ish era games with jagged edges

I would not mind the little anti aliasing bug cause it still looks good and i think archive-invalidator (if thats how you spell) it shoud fix it:)

Phew, looks like i'll be just in time. My computer needed a new PSU because when it was under load it would randomly shut down, just got a new one installed and it works like a charm, so when FWV is released i will be able to play it :D
Happy days ;)

I literally check this blog every day! I always can't wait for news about the mod, in fact I'm more excited about this than any other mod I've ever seen! (and it's alot)

Will it have any major spoilers of the series? (excluding anything included in LCoG and GitM)
I just started season 6 :/

Is there a way for me to sign-up for future betas? I would very much want to participate. Also what is needed to be in the dev team?

Just got back into Fallout so i dont have to go through all the small quests at the beginning, and regeneration would a be a mighty help right now lol. Im about level 5 and I am trying to eradicate every stinking Powder Ganger out of the NCR CF, but i have to keep retreating out of the buildings due to the sheer mass of them. Already died quite a few times.

Slowpoke, I haven't encountered anything I'd consider a spoiler, so that shouldn't be a problem for you.

And Dracony, most kind of you to say, thanks.

Thank you Kris, the one, true BASEDLORD.

I just can't wait!.... I kinda hoped it was going to be out now so I could play it all day, but... Anyway, I'll be going away for a week without my computer, so the chances are probably high that it might be out by the time I return. LOVE your work, Chris! Take your time :)

Is it only me or is Demeggy and the others inactive in this chat? Maybe they are working very hard to get it out this weeked, idk.

I have my doubts that we're going to see a release this weekend. I know they're going to want to get everything ironed out perfectly before they release! Keep it up guys, can't wait!

Well, persistent anti-aliasing glitch aside, the blog mentioned two major glitches. Is the second one found and dealt with, yet? I'm guessing that if those two are the ones that can crash the game or badly affect the mod, they'll be the ones slowing release.

Anonymous said...

no theres only one bug left that's important as in the blog look again and what kind of doctor who toys you looking forward to?

Anonymous said...

Kris said that you will be kind of able to keep your skills while regenarating or something... so... maybe a Chameleon Arch?

Spyduck of many colors said...

As far as the anti-aliasing feature goes, disabling it through the game launcher fixes the shader problems, while force-enabling it through your graphics driver control panel will allow for anti-aliasing to continue working. Problem solved with a workaround.

Dracony: I doubt we'll need any more beta testers yet, for a while, anyway. If you really want to be in the dev team, I don't really know, but... When I joined I had an existing TARDIS mod in development and just showed Demeggy via PM. So I guess the answer would be "impress us (somehow)"?
