Beta 1.0: Child of the TARDIS perk
"Child of the TARDIS" is a perk unique to Beta 1.0 which allows your character to radically alter their genetic makeup and become 'Time Lord'.
In layman's terms, the perk gifts your character with 2 unique traits: Regeneration and Radiation Dissipation.
Regeneration is the bodily rejuvenation process gifted to Time Lords by their apparent over-exposure to the Time Vortex. Upon nearing death, a Time Lord's cellular makeup would 'regenerate' altering their physical appearance and psychology. Deemed a risk to immortality, the Time Lords allowed themselves only 12 of these 'regenerations', upon after which they would simply die.
Within context of the mod, the same rules apply. Upon near death, your character will be forced to regenerate. All skills and stats will be completely randomised and you will be given the chance to alter your physical appearance.
Upon regenerating, your character will have a 3 minute Real-Time Regeneration Cycle in which they are invincible to all attacks, allowing you to remove yourself from the situation of conflict and reach a safe destination.
The only situation Regeneration is not possible comes in three forms:
- Radiation sickness
- Dalek Extermination
Another useful trait of the Time Lords was the ability to dissipate high dosages of radiation by focusing the excess rads through a limb (as seen in Smith & Jones).
Upon over-exposure to high levels of rads in-game, you will be prompted with a message on how best to dissipate the radiation. Whichever of the 5 appendages you choose to dissipate the radiation sickness through (head, left arm, right arm, left leg, right leg), instantaeneous crippling will occur.
Note: As it stands, Regeneration and Radiation Dissipation are two of the core features of this perk. A more class skilled approach may be incorporated, development time pending.
